New! UPC decisions are now on Vizlegal — Search 1,600+ rulings
Over 1,600 UPC decisions and orders on the Vizlegal platform are now fully searchable by action type, registry number, party names, and keywords — delivering the precision practitioners need when navigating complex IP matters.
Vizlegal Expands with Unified Patent Court Decisions
Addition of UPC Decisions and Orders strengthens IP research capabilities for practitioners across Ireland and the UK
The expansion delivers a significant new capability to intellectual property (IP) practitioners across Ireland and the United Kingdom, enabling seamless access to EU-level patent litigation outcomes within a single, integrated research environment.
The UPC provides a uniform, specialised framework for patent litigation at a European level, hearing both infringement and revocation actions across local and central divisions. It holds exclusive jurisdiction over "classic" European patents and European patents with unitary effect. While Ireland is a signatory to the Agreement on a Unified Patent Court, ratification remains pending.
A Practical Toolkit for IP Practitioners
Over 1,600 UPC decisions and orders on the Vizlegal platform are now fully searchable by free-text keywords/phrases, action type, registry number, party names and more — delivering the precision practitioners need when navigating complex IP matters.

Key enhancements accompanying this launch include:
- Machine translation of UPC decisions into English of German, French, Dutch, Danish & Italian proceedings, providing immediate efficiencies for practitioners working across jurisdictions.
- Cross-jurisdictional navigation, enabling users to move seamlessly between UPC decisions and other patent rulings — including Irish High Court Lists and Judgments, CJEU decisions, and the Intellectual Property List of the England and Wales High Court Chancery Division — all within a single platform.
- Save, bookmark, and tag functionality, allowing practitioners to organise decisions for easy retrieval and to build structured research trails and case context.
Supporting Ireland's IP Ecosystem
The launch reflects Vizlegal's commitment to supporting Ireland's broader innovation and research environment. According to the most recent data from the Intellectual Property Office of Ireland (2024), Ireland ranked 10th overall in unitary patent uptake across Europe, with an uptake rate of 33% — an improvement on its 2023 position. Key economic sectors driving this demand include MedTech, Computer Technology, and Pharmaceuticals.
Gavin Sheridan, CEO of Vizlegal, on the addition:
"It is simply a case of 'you said, we delivered.' Our users — across law firms, trademark attorney offices, and at government level — are vital partners in shaping Vizlegal's direction and strategic focus.
The demand for additional IP resources reflects Vizlegal's value not only in litigation, but in the advisory dimension of legal services.
Given the strong international dimension to this area of practice, we are excited to offer UPC decisions alongside our expanding national and UK resources."

Complementing our existing IP suite:
The UPC addition complements Vizlegal's existing suite of Trademark, Copyright and Patent content which already enables practitioners to:
- Search, filter, and create alerts for High Court Records and decisions of the Superior Courts, by keywords and lists.
- Explore registered Irish Trademark Designs
- Filter High Court filings and Superior Court decisions of England and Wales by relevant key words, parties and more.
Together, these resources position Vizlegal as the definitive platform for IP, Copyright & Trademark research and practice in Ireland.
